IGES/SSS Expands and Adds More Weekday Shopping
The International Gift Expo in the Smokies (IGES) and Souvenir Super Show (SSS), held during the first week of November every year, was one of the first shows to sign on with the Sevierville Tennessee Events Center and has expanded every year since, making it the largest wholesale resort, souvenir and gift show in the United States.
“This is one of the first shows we booked,” said Mike Wilds, marketing director for the Events Center. “In 2007, they booked the entire building and they used every square inch. The next year, they expanded to the outside by adding a 20,000-square-foot tent. It grew to 30,000 square feet this past year and they’ve already signed enough exhibitors to expand to 50,000 square feet this year.”
According to Susan Mills of IGES/SSS, the show started 11 years ago with 273 booths, a number that is expected to grow to over 1,000 this year.
“The staff and management of IGES/SSS thank all of you,” Mills said, “our attending buyers, vendors and others for the exceptional and enthusiastic support you gave this past year before, during and after our 10th Anniversary Celebration in Sevierville, Tenn.”
To accommodate buyer requests for more weekday shopping, the 2010 IGES/SSS will open on a Wednesday, Nov. 3 and run through Sunday, Nov. 7. Mills added that because of the larger show, buyers might want to allow extra time to cover the many new and traditional product lines on display.
In addition, IGES/SSS will be hosting national buying groups, including ZAG (Zoo and Aquarium Gift Buyers), the NCA (National Caves Association) and NARB (the National Association of Retail Buyers).
