Kristina Johnson to join Dallas Market Center as vice president of trade shows

Dallas Market Center announced Kristina Johnson will join the company July 5 as vice president of tradeshows. Johnson will be responsible for the strategic planning, merchandising, and leasing for the temporary exhibits at Total Home & Gift Markets.

Johnson joins Dallas Market Center from Gifted Strategies, a business consulting practice for the gift and home industries, where she was founder and CEO. Prior to Gifted Strategies, she served as vice president of sales and marketing for Just Got 2 Have It!, a leading sales agency in the gift and home industries. Just Got 2 Have It! spans the southeast, northeast, and west regions of the U.S. and represents dozens of manufacturers in product categories including gift, home décor, personal care, fashion, and paper.

Johnson reports to Executive Vice President of Leasing Mary Wenner, who recently joined Dallas Market Center from retailer Neiman Marcus.

“Kristina’s unique understanding of our industry, its sales channels, and key companies along with her experience organizing and motivating teams will be a tremendous asset,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center.  “Our tradeshow business is a key platform for new resources, emerging trends, and incredible opportunities for buyers. As more retailers from more states and countries visit Dallas seeking new products to stand out from the competition, we look forward to benefiting from Kristina’s leadership.”

Johnson joins Dallas Market Center amid unprecedented growth in key categories including gift and home décor as evidenced by the increasing number of temporary exhibitors participating in trade events in Dallas. The most recent Total Home & Gift Market saw more than 500 temporary exhibitors participate and included 150 new exhibitors across multiple categories.

Dallas Market Center serves retailers and interior designers from all 50 states and 85 countries and is located in the strongest economic zone in the country. Texas consistently ranks #1 in the U.S. in housing growth, #1 in consumer confidence, and recently reached a record $42.5 billion in annual retail sales. In addition, 80 percent of Dallas Market Center buyers report that they do not shop other market centers.
