Peer Perspective: Rachael Gorney, IGES By Zeke Jennings

There is nothing Rachael Gorney enjoys more than being able to finally put a face with a name. As a key cog for one of the industry's biggest trade shows (IGES), those opportunities come often.

How long have you been working with IGES and what exactly is your role?

I’ve been with IGES for four and half years — 2017 marks my fifth show. I’ve worn many hats in my time at IGES and have the privilege to work with buyers and vendors from throughout the industry. From first point of contact, to registration assistance, sales and onsite concierge — it is my job to ensure that guests of IGES are taken care with the utmost respect and courtesy. I work diligently to make IGES an enjoyable and profitable experience for all attendees of our show.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

I love being able to put a face to the name come show time, as I spend most of my time working with people over email and phone. I’ve been blessed to meet so many wonderful people these past few years and learn so much about the industry that I was always on the other side of. Now I’m able to share my knowledge and passion; helping to connect buyers and vendors so that they can successfully find new clients, products and make the most of their time at IGES.

Is there one question you hear more than others from buyers and attendees?

Why two locations? It’s simple, IGES has so much to offer, we couldn’t possibly fit it under one roof! The Sevierville Convention Center is our flagship location and has become our hub for new vendors and merchandise. It’s also home to IGES’ specialty showcase of Made in America & Handcrafted products — with artisan offerings, Amish made goods and locally made products. Just minutes away, the Pigeon Forge LeConte Center puts attendees at the heart of it all. With 1,200-plus booths across our two beautiful convention centers, IGES truly offers attendees the best of the Smokies and beyond!

What do you enjoy doing with your free time?

I love gardening, being outdoors, reading and spending time with my family.
