Karin Miller
Spring Green General Store
Spring Green, Wis.

1. What makes your store unique?

We are half retail store and half café — all in a 1910 converted cheese warehouse. We’re not your grandmother’s general store.

2. What is your retail background?

I used to own a natural food store and learned by working for the store’s owner. Otherwise, I’m self-taught.

3. What is the most popular product you sell?

Chocolate (Chocolove), themed band-aids (Accoutrements), metal models (Fascinations), cards and Smartwool socks.

4. What are your top three retail tips?

Keep your stock fresh, colorful, affordable and fun. Be a good boss. Love your customers. Watch your finances.
